Welcome to Innovative Hypnosis
My name is Sharon L. Muir. I am a Certified Hypnotist at Innovative Hypnosis. I continually take all the best that hypnosis has to offer and combine it in ways that create positive changes for real life issues at the core level. Innovative Hypnosis is Cutting Edge Hypnosis.
I first started hypnosis training in 1994. And in 1995 I received my certifications from Master Hynotists John Overdorf and Julie Silverthorn. During one of these early trainings, a fellow student and I were practicing some techniques we had recently learned. My friend informed me that I was blending the techniques and that I was creating new techniques. I told her it was very difficult for me to keep them separate in my mind. The first thing my mind does is begin making connections of all the other ways I could combine and apply this new information. For example, I learned a technique to help someone feel deeply relaxed and wake up minutes later feeling like they had a restful night sleep. At the time I was a massage therapist and could easily combine this technique to help my massage clients feel even better than before. I learned another technique called anchoring. When a person is experiencing a really great feeling simply touching them on the shoulder will anchor that great feeling. You can then trigger that same great feeling for them by touching their shoulder again at a later time. How many ways can you think of to use that? I realized almost immediately that I could use this to help people stop smoking.
I thought everyone thought like this. I was surprised when my friend told me that it is not a common way of thinking at all. I tell this story as a way for you to see just why I would call my website Innovative Hypnosis. I really have no choice but to be cutting edge. It is just how my mind works.
I Love It! The feeling of seeing some thing for the first or in a new way is great. This is why I am so excited to learn more and more about Hypnosis even after all these years. I teach a free self hypnosis class every week all summer simply because I love to talk about hypnosis. I love to see the look on peoples faces when they learn some of the amazing things I have to teach them. And I love to answer the questions people come up with. It is the best. On the surface it might look like I am teaching the same topic every week but I always end up teaching something that I didn't teach the week before. I just can't help it.
Over the past 20 years, I have been studying many modalities besides Hypnosis. I will just name a few here to give you a feel for the wide range of studies I might be integrating into hypnosis. I am a graduate of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. It is a four year school of esoteric healing and self awareness. I have studied Fine Art, at the Bucks County Community College, Addiction Counselor Training at Penn State University, and Huna Ho'Omana in Kona Hawaii. I have certifications as a Reiki teacher, Hypnotist, Medical Hypnotist, and Neuro-Linguistic Programing. I am also certified in Ericksonian Hypnosis, Time Line Therapy, Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Psychology and the Resolution of Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors. I have studied Lucid dreaming, Jungian psychology, Sufism, Buddhism, Celtic and Aboriginal Religions, Erick Erickson and Milton Erickson Psychology.
As a perennial student, I am led by my fascination and love for learning about the unlimited possibilities of the human mind. As a result I am passionate about the work I do and enjoy every opportunity to explore and expand my hypnosis practice.
