And in 1995 I received my certifications from Master Hypnotists John Overdurf and Julie Silversthone. During one of these early trainings, a fellow student and I were practicing some techniques we had recently learned. My friend informed me that I was blending the techniques and that I was creating new techniques. I told her it was very difficult for me to keep them separate in my mind. The first thing my mind does is begin making connections of all the other ways I could combine and apply this new information. For example, I learned a technique to help someone feel deeply relaxed and wake up minutes later feeling like they had a restful night sleep. At the time I was a massage therapist and could easily combine this technique to help my massage clients feel even better than before. I learned another technique called anchoring. When a person is experiencing a really great feeling simply touching them on the shoulder will anchor that great feeling. You can then trigger that same great feeling for them by touching their shoulder again at a later time. How many ways can you think of to use that? I realized almost immediately that I could use this to help people stop smoking.

I thought everyone thought like this. I was surprised when my friend told me that it is not a common way of thinking at all. I tell this story as a way for you to see just why I would call my website Innovative Hypnosis. I really have no choice but to be cutting edge. It is just how my mind works.

I Love It! The feeling of seeing some thing for the first or in a new way is great. This is why I am so excited to learn more and more about Hypnosis even after all these years. I teach a free self hypnosis class every week all summer simply because I love to talk about hypnosis. I love to see the look on peoples faces when they learn some of the amazing things I have to teach them. And I love to answer the questions people come up with. It is the best. On the surface it might look like I am teaching the same topic every week but I always end up teaching something that I didn't teach the week before. I just can't help it.
